Closure to New Applicants

From 30th June 2022 the Southall Trust will be closed to new applications from organisations operating outside of the UK – except to organisations that the Trust has previously supported.

This closure is expected to be temporary and it is to allow the trustees time to give proper consideration to how the Trust can better-support local communities overseas. The trustees will be giving particular attention to the subjects of colonialism, ‘white saviourism’, racism and racial inequality during this time.

We thank potential applicants in advance for their patience and understanding while we carry out this work.

For organisations that we have funded in the past please note that, if you are applying to us again, we are now asking applicants to provide us with a statement, which will be requested at the point of application (i.e. as a file to be uploaded). This should answer the following two questions:

  1. How are your organisation’s overseas operations governed, scrutinised and monitored by its UK office?
  2. How are local people and/or beneficiaries of your organisation’s work involved in the design, delivery and monitoring of the project/work?
